1939 saw a Ginger Rogers movie "Bachelor Mother" where a baby is left on an orphanage doorstep. This very original and beautiful Walnut Arvin is not remotely related, but somehow similar. I think someone five to ten years after that movie put a radio on Arvin's Columbus, Indiana doorstep and nobody could figure out where it came from? Could be 1946, 47 or, maybe 1948? Hard to pin down exactly when Arvin accepted manufacturing responsibility. Today it looks and plays like it did coming off the production line...whenever it was! Electronically reconditioned with new paper and electrolytic capacitors and out of tolerance resistors have been replaced. There is an external antenna for greater sensitivity. The six tubes are in good shape. A Jim Dennis Scale of Beauty 10+ "Ginger Rogers" Special! If you'd like additional pictures please let me know. 12"W x 8"H x 7"D. |
