THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Here is a small five-tube, AM only radio from the W.T. Grant Co. in NYC. It has an Art Deco brown Bakelite case with four pushbuttons. The original tabs on the buttons list WPRO, WCOU, WCSH, and WGAN...all radio stations around the Portland area in Maine. The case has a tight hairline on the left back rear of the case (see photo) but no cracks or chips. It has the original knobs and grille cloth but no back. I went through it and replaced filters, weak caps and resistors and aligned it. It has a new polarized cord for safety. It plays fine and is very selective with a short wire antenna attached to the wire in the back. This must have been one of the last Deco designs after the war as they moved to more modern style. I haven't seen many of these radios. 11"W x 7-1/2"H x 6"D. |
