THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Here is a small five-tube AM only radio from the General Electric Co. This features a machine age design from the 30's; it has been called the "Turbine" but I see locomotive motifs in it as well. It has a lit up thumbwheel dial that adds to its look. The Bakelite is swirled brown & black and takes a nice shine. There are no cracks, chips or hairlines in the case. It has the original knobs and back (which is missing a piece). I went through the chassis replacing weak tubes, caps, filters and the cord for safety. It has been aligned. It needs a long wire antenna for reception although it will pick up close local stations without it. It plays with a nice mellow tube sound. 9"W x 6"H x 5"D. |
