Silvertone 4564 (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Silvertone 4564 (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

I bought this old gentleman of the radio world in a collection from a very dear friend who had to retire from the business for health reasons. I paid too much for it, and there was just not enough upside to do a full cabinet restoration. I was about to scrap it out, but decided to touch it up as best I could and put five coats of lacquer over it. Lots of flaws, and, for sure, no show stopper, but I'd call it respectable. Has the famous Silvertone "golden world" dial, with a few unobtrusive chips in the dial bezel. The sound is outstanding from the large, 8-inch speaker. Sears required a higher level of quality from their suppliers than a lot of catalog merchants. A full set of high testing tubes and a full alignment produced a very good performer on Broadcast and short wave. I have seen these for $325, but am pricing this commensurate with its shortcomings. I'm losing my shirt on this one, but I hope someone will give it a good home. It will give you great sound for many years to come. Requires an external antenna. 17"H x 13"W x 10"D.
