Toshiba 7TH425 Wall Radio (1961?)
(plastic other radio)

Toshiba 7TH425 Wall Radio (1961?)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

If they gave a prize in 1961 for the most unique radio, this little Toshiba must have won it. I saw this at an antique store and walked past it thinking it was a clock. I'm a tube guy, but when he told me this was a radio, I was doomed. I had to buy it. The seven-transistor chassis is a pretty good performer on the built in antenna. The sound is quite good from the pair of 3-1/2" speakers. It even has a thoughtful knob at the bottom so you can rotate the antenna depending what direction the station is. Someone left batteries in it until they leaked badly, staining the grille cloth at the bottom. Doesn't look as bad as the photo booth LEDs made it. A tiny bit of rash on the volume knob, but not all that noticeable. I cleaned out the corrosion, replaced the electrolytics and aligned the receiver. Want something almost no one else has? Here it is. And it won't take up any shelf space! 11-1/2"W x 11-1/2"H x 4"D. Requires four "D" cells, not included.
