THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This rather hefty die cast survivor from the earliest days of AM radio has its original finish, although it is somewhat deteriorated, with a few dings and thin places. I had to sweat the filter network apart to fix a loose connection. I replaced the cord with period appropriate wire. The grille cloth on the front and back are not original, and are of different patterns. Not sure why. The bottom cover is present, with the the RCA markings intact. A little repair work at two of the screw points, and a little warped from age. The "motor" (yes, that's what RCA called the armature type speaker driver) is solid and tight. I tested it on my Tuska 228 and the sound is decent from the perfect speaker. It's not a beauty contest winner, but maybe third runner up, and if you have an early 20s radio, you need this baby! 13-1/4"W x 11"H x 7-3/4"D. |
