THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
I am really excited to offer for sale this unique and beautiful General Television and Radio Corp model 534 piano radio. This s one of the most attractive and lovable novelty radios ever produced. Receiver sensitivity is outstanding, and the audio quality is surprising for such a small speaker. I have fully restored the chassis. Tubes all test at or near NOS. It plays great and will no doubt be a fabulous eye-catcher in your collection. It is very rare to find one of these in this nice condition. I had to make a pedal to replace one that was missing, and a new prop rod assy, also missing. I was not able to find knobs anywhere, so I fabricated a couple. These leave a lot to be desired, but they aren't really visible while the radio is playing. There are a couple of very fine cracks in the veneer on the back and a small blemish on the keyboard where a previous restorer damaged it with caustic glue. Despite these minor deficits the overall appearance of this set is very beautiful. I restored the original finish and added several coats of clear nitrocellulose lacquer. You will be in a very exclusive club when you pick up this incredible little gem from a bygone era. |
