Philco 16B (1935)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Philco 16B (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Some people consider the Philco 16B to be the finest table radio ever made. There were six different radios in the 16B and 116B line. This radio is the second version of three "16" models. It's a beast of a radio with four bands (SB, SWx3) eleven tubes and a 12-inch speaker pushing out ten pure watts of push-pull audio! We restored the chassis, replacing all of the capacitors with modern equivalents, checking and replacing resistors and tubes where needed. It's a daunting task as the radio contains thirteen capacitor "blocks" that have to be restored. A safety fuse, power cord, audio input cable and new antenna lead were installed. The tuner is sensitive and the shadow meter functions as it should. Gary applied his usual mastery refinishing the cabinet, and he knocked this one out of the park! He colored the cabinet back to original, and finished with a satin lacquer finish. The chassis, speaker, knobs and dial scale are original. The grille cloth is a Philco reproduction. This monster of a radio is flat out gorgeous, and won't last long. Make it yours today! 22"H x 17"W x 12"D.
