THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Aetna was brand name for radios sold in Walgreens Drug Stores based in Chicago, IL. They used several companies to manufacture their brand, with initials of the manufacturer on the label . Detrola (DL), Sentinel (SL), Belmont (BRC), Warwick (WMCO), Wells-Gardner (WG), Colonial (CL) and others. The 253-CL was originally a four-tube, AM only TRF radio. However, when Gary purchased this radio, he got it home to find out that the chassis had been stripped bare. He had our master tech Jerry Krocker build a brand new five-tube AA5 radio on the chassis using the original tuner and dial, and it plays fantastic utilizing an internal loop antenna! Gary stripped and refinished the "cube" cabinet to a "piano" lacquer finish. (Yes, even Aetna had a cube design!) The very colorful dial, knobs and escutcheon are original. This is a totally unique radio with brand new, up-to-date electronics that will play for years. Priced right, so make it yours today! 10-1/2"W x 8"H x 7"D.
