Emerson DS-436 "Treasure Chest" (1941)
(wood tube table radio)

Emerson DS-436 "Treasure Chest" (1941)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Emerson produced what could be called their finest radio right before the war. Some folks think that some of the DS series came out in 1942, which was a year most manufacturers had started war production. The DS series radios were pretty superior to anything Emerson had made up to that point. Push-Pull audio utilizing 6L6 output tubes, AVC, a high quality 8-inch speaker, tuning-eye tube and a tuned RF stage. It is rated at 20 watts of output, which is quite impressive, more than most console radios. We replaced all of the capacitors. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where needed. A cable was installed to access an external audio source. The Ingraham cabinet is in excellent shape, possibly restored at some point, and the Ingraham badging is present. The original knobs, chassis and speaker are with the radio. This radio sounds excellent and has a lot of volume and fantastic fidelity. A very unique part of Emerson's history and a fine radio to boot! 18"W x 12"H x 12"D.
