THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
In the 1950's, the "Jet Age" was upon us. Everything exemplified the style of jet aircraft and radios were no exemption. Sharp angles, wing shapes and bright colors were the order of the day. Gone were radios made of wood and Bakelite, replaced with new, hard plastics like Styrene, Lucite and Plaskon. The 870-B is a five-tube, AM only AC/DC radio. Thousands of the "AA5" (All-American five) radios were being manufactured, and so affordable, everyone could have them. All of the capacitors were replaced with new equivalents. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where necessary. The radio was aligned and plays perfectly, utilizing an internal loop antenna. This model was offered in several colors, with this pink and black combination the only one I've ever seen. the original knob and back are with the radio, just a really nice period-piece from the "Jet Age!" 8"W x 5"H x 5"D. |
