(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Sparton 617 Tombstone (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Sparks-Withington company was founded in 1900 and manufactured automotive parts, with radio production starting in 1925. In 1935, designer Walter Teague produced four cabinets: the Sled, the Bluebird, the Cynclosure and the Nocturne. These radios are still some of the most valuable and highly collected to this day. The 617 is a six-tube, three-band (SB, SWx2) radio. This radio features the "Sparton Photochromatic Dial" which first came out on several of their 1936 models for the 1937 season. All of the capacitors have been replaced and the tubes and resisters checked and replaced where needed. A safety fuse, external audio cable and power cord were installed. The cabinet was stripped and refinished, ending up with a lacquer "piano" finish. The original knobs and speaker are with the radio. The dial is original and in perfect condition. This Sparton plays and looks great and is ready for your collection! 20-1/2"H x 16"W x 9"D.
