Crosley 817 "Super Eight" (1938)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Crosley 817 "Super Eight" (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Crosley 817, or "Super 8," called that because of the eight-tube configuration and 8-inch speaker. This is one of my favorite radios, combining a beautiful, brass-accented walnut cabinet, a perfect "mirror glass" dial, and a strong push-pull audio. The 817 is an eight-tube, three-band (SB, SWx2) radio with console-like tone and volume performing with a lot of sensitivity across the dial. The capacitors were replaced with new Mylar equivalents. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where necessary. We added a safety fuse, audio input and a new antenna lead. The cabinet was stripped and refinished with quality toners and lacquers. The radio is a work of art with its walnut veneers and maple inlay, and a "piano" lacquer finish makes it shine! The original knobs were used and a reproduction grille cloth was added. This is a high-quality restoration that will play for years to come. 17"W x 10"H x 7"D.
