In 1939, RCA manufactured a group of radios referred to as the "Little Nipper" series. A few of the radios commemorated the 1939 New York World's Fair and the San Francisco Golden Gate Exposition. The "La Siesta" was one of those radios. The radio was made of plywood, and the images on the front were applied using a silk screen. The 40X53 is a five-tube, AM only radio. We went in and replaced all of the capacitors. Tubes and resistors were checked and replaced where needed. A new power cord and audio cable were installed. The radio plays well utilizing and internal "loop" antenna. Gary took the radio apart and cleaned it thoroughly. The cabinet is in perfect condition and retains the original knobs, grille cloth and speaker. The colors on the front are sharp and vibrant. There is on very small flaw on the dial which is hardly noticeable. A very rare radio in amazing condition! 9"W x 6"G x 6"D. |
