Starting in 1890, there were rival companies competing with Thomas Edison trying to find the commercial and social applications of electricity. In 1892, with financing from J.P. Morgan, Edison and another company formed the General Electric Company of Schenectady NY. In 1919, GE founded RCA and AT&T, furthering the development of radio all over the world. The F-63 is a six-tube, two-band (SB,SW) radio. This table radio was the top seller for GE in 1937. The unique dial has separate band, volume and tone pointers, and a gorgeous Art Deco cabinet. Blake replaced all of the capacitors, checked the tubes and resistors replacing where necessary. An audio cable and new antenna wire were installed. Gary stripped the walnut cabinet, repainted the black body lines and finished with a beautiful lacquer. The radio has the original grille cloth, power cord and knobs. We added a new dial cover. This is one of my favorite GE radios, and they are very hard to find! The unique, great performing radio is ready for you collection! 17-1/2"W x 9"H x 8"D. |
