Atwater Kent 545 (1935)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Atwater Kent 545 (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Atwater Kent 545 was produced in the summer of 1935 as part of the line up for 1936. Within a year, Atwater Kent was closed down by Arthur Kent, who didn't want to compromise the high quality of his radios to produce lesser quality radios to compete in the market of that era. The 545 was a five-tube, two-band (SB,SW) set. It had an eight-inch speaker with great sound quality. It featured an AFC circuit (automatic volume control) that maintained an even volume between strong and weak stations. We replaced all of the capacitors with new equivalents. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where necessary. We installed a safety fuse and audio cable, and added a new cloth power cord. Gary did his usual masterful work, refinishing this beauty in a semi-gloss lacquer. The radio retains its original speaker, knobs, grille cloth and dial cover. Great price on a gorgeous, hard-to-find Atwater Kent. 17-1/2"H x 13"W x 8"D.
