(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Emerson BD-197 "Mae West" (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Emerson and the Ingraham Clock Co. cabinet manufacturing, produced some of the most beautiful and collectible radios from the 30's and 40's. Russian-born designer Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky was hired by Emerson in 1938 and was known for inventing "streamlining," using the effect on most designs he did. The "Mae West" is one of the top ten most sought after radios in the world. This amazing five-tube, two-band radio is strong across the dial with good tone and sensitivity. All of the wax/paper capacitors have been replaced with new caps of equal values. The tubes and resistors have been tested and replaced as needed. A precise alignment ensures "like new" performance and an audio cable is added to play your own music from any number of sources. Gary has refinished the cabinet using the finest lacquer, grain filler and toner for a "factory like" finish. The proper indicator decals were added in the refinishing process and it has its original jewels in front. The knobs, chassis, speaker and back are original. Don't miss an opportunity to own one of the very finest! 13"W x 9"H x 6-1/2"D.
