Here is another rare and collectible radio from Joe's Radio Shop. A 1936 Jewell "Chrome Front" radio made by Stewart-Warner at the plant in Ontario, Canada. Notice the fine sculpturing on the front and the beautifully grooved shoulders that was copied by Zenith in 1937. Chrome front radios were produced by several manufacturers and popular at the peak of the Art Deco era from 1933 to 1937. The original capacitors have been replaced with new long lasting capacitors and a fuse was added for safety. The four tubes and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. A precise alignment was done and an 8-ft antenna was added so this AM only radio plays like new. The cabinet was refinished beautifully, in dark walnut and ebony satin by the previous owner. This is a rare and collectible radio that is beautiful to display. 12-1/2"H x 9-1/2"W x 7"D. |
