Zenith 6-S-222 "Cube" (1938)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Zenith 6-S-222 "Cube" (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Zenith produced the six-tube, three-band (SB, SWx2) 6-S-222 in the summer of 1937 for the 1938 line. Their "Cube" design caught on quickly and sales were good. This is the largest cube of five that they produced. Several other companies jumped on the "Cube" train to cash in on the fad. They were small radios with the speaker facing upwards, which later caused a lot of dust buildup and premature speaker cone failure. Joe replaced all of the capacitors, checked the resistors and tubes and replaced where needed. This radio is a strong performer across the dial. An external jack was added for accessing an external device, such as an iPad, iPhone, or Bluetooth. A cable has been provided with the necessary adaptor. The radio retains its original "Z" wooden knobs, and a new grille cloth was added. Gary did a fantastic job refinishing the radio, creating a "piano finish" with a few coats of lacquer. The Zenith "Cubes" are still highly collectible, and this one is a beauty! 14"W x 11"H x 10"D.
