THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Here we have an original cabinet AK tombstone. Atwater Kent first designed ignition systems in 1907 for early automobiles. With the success of that endeavor he opened his first Pennsylvania radio factory in 1921. He produced a very high quality product and his company's reputation was very important to him, referred to as the "Cadillac of Radios." He chose to close down production and retire in 1936 rather than produce a cheaper radio of lesser quality to compete in the market of that day. This five-tube, two-band radio (SB, police) has a great Art Deco design. The walnut veneers are separated with brass strips that accentuate the linear look of this radio. This radio has an older electronic restoration and plays well across the dial. The cabinet, knobs and grille cloth are all original. Please allow $38 for packing and shipping. |
