Zenith 6-S-223 (1938)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Zenith 6-S-223 (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The "Black Dial" addition to Zenith radios in 1936 was a defining moment for the company and for the radio industry at large. What a simple idea that is still popular to this day 84 years later. Zenith applied it to all sizes of their radios. Large, medium and small. The model 6-S-223 was a "medium" sized radio. This six-tube, three-band (SB,SW,Police) was next in the model line from the 6-S-222 "cube" and is basically a larger version of the "cube" utilizing the same chassis. This radio has been completely electronically restored. This is a great performing radio with plenty of volume and sensitivity across the dial. This radio was refinished by the previous owner and looks very nice. It features a Mahogany and Black Walnut cabinet with gorgeous maple sides. The radio has the original knobs, speaker and chassis. It has reproduction grille cloth. This is a very rare Zenith. It sold for about 25% more than the "cube" which may explain why sales were slow for this larger radio. Here is a very nice example of this collectable radio! I can add Bluetooth to this radio if you would like. Just let me know. 19-1/2"W x 11-1/2"H x 10"D.
