THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Unusual small Emerson designed by none other than Norman Bel Geddes, one of America's most prolific industrial designers of the 1930's and 1940's, contracted to Emerson, Philco and various transportation manufacturers of the period. This beauty is a survivor, as this model has the original "faux-wood" finish (technique of painting paper to mimic wood and applied to a wood cabinet shell), a rarity. There was wear present, which I cleaned up and sealed with Mohawk Vinyl sealer and lacquers. Also, it has the original back and knobs. To me, it's a real "cutie!" The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, internally fused for your safety and has a new polarized power cord), and it plays very nicely on the AM broadcast band with its internal loop antenna, pulling in stations amazingly well for such a small set. 10-1/4"W x 7"H x 5"D. |
