Aetna J "Cube" (1936)
(wood tube table radio)

Aetna J "Cube" (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Unusually scarce, hard to find model produced for Walgreens Drug stores as their "in-house" brand between 1935 and 1936. An inexpensive four-tube TRF set, they were a fast-moving item for the company and typically used in larger cities with nearby radio stations. The "airplane-style" pointer and the multicolored amazingly crisp dial show beautifully in a darkened room. Amazingly, this Aetna has retained its original back. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs and it is internally fused for your safety) plays nicely, receiving very well for a TRF radio on the AM broadcast band with a nice, warm sound. It also has the old Police band, now obsolete. The cube-shaped cabinet has been lovingly restored using the finest toning and finishing lacquers and wood grain fillers, closely replicating the original factory finish as possible. The grille cloth was replaced with a new, period specific one, virtually identical to the old, tattered one. 11"W x 8"H x 6"D.
