First time offered on The Attic is this beautiful pre-War Pilot T-1252. Nice small inlay accent veneers, back lit gold dial, airplane-style dial pointer and a nicely designed Deco influenced cabinet. Pilot radios are somewhat difficult to attain. Founded in 1919 by Isidor Goldberg, who first offered radio kits for home use, they went bankrupt in 1933 in the Great Depression and reopened shortly thereafter, with factories in several different countries. In 1963, the Pilot name was bought by Emerson. Their history is quite interesting. This beautiful cabinet has been refinished using the very finest toning and finishing lacquers, producing a lovely finish. Original iconic pilot's wheel embossed knobs, Bakelite top handle and grille cloth. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, internally fused for your safety and has a new polarized power cord), and it plays very nicely on both the AM broadcast band with its internal loop antenna and on the shortwave band with an external antenna. 13-1/2"W x 8-1/2"H x 8-3/4"D.
