THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Beautiful small tombstone from the Depression era. Powell Crosley was an amazing entrepreneur by anyone's standards. He introduced a fuel-efficient automobile, a line of appliances, and radios; all were advanced for the era and more importantly were affordable for the public, all with the Crosley name. He also built his own radio station, WLW in Cincinnati, with a 500,000 watt transmitter and the highest tower in the country. It was so powerful in fact, most any radio could tune in his station both day and night. The cabinet has been refinished using the very finest toning and finishing lacquers, producing a lovely finish as when sold new. The grille cloth has been replaced with a correct period specific one and knobs are nice and original. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs and it is internally fused for your safety and has a new polarized power cord), and it plays very nicely on the AM broadcast band and also has the old Police band. 11-3/4"H x 10-1/4"W x 8"D. |
