THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Simplex was a small radio manufacturer located in Philadelphia PA, which began in 1923 and later moved to Sandusky OH in 1947, leading to the demise of the company. In financial distress, they were acquired by Philco, who immediately closed the plant and eliminated a formidable competitor. Simplex is a brand very hard to come by and when found, stay in the hands of collectors. This model "P" cathedral is the only one I have ever seen and I believe the smallest five-tube superhet they ever made. This cabinet has been lovingly refinished using the very finest lacquers, producing a beautiful luster. The grille cloth and knobs appear to be original and a period specific cloth cord has been added. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs and is internally fused for your safety), and it plays very nicely on the AM band. 12-1/2"H x 10-1/3"W x 7-1/4"D. |
