Silver-Marshall "All World Five" (1935)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Silver-Marshall "All World Five" (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Chicago based and in business for a very limited time. Therefore, very few of their sets ever come up for sale, while remaining in collections. Beautiful hand laid inlay accents the set's design, and an intricate grille design resembles a skyscraper of the era. One very distinct thing about this cabinet is the carved Greek key design trim at the bottom, which I've not seen on any other radio before. The cabinet was cleaned and polished, retaining a nice shine. I am uncertain whether or not it has its original finish, or if it was refinished decades ago, but the finish was nice enough to save. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, internally fused for your safety and has a new polarized power cord), and it plays very nicely on the AM broadcast band. Though this set was originally sold with shortwave, it was disabled at some time during WWII, which was common practice for radios owned by certain groups of foreign nationals in the US. I have added an MP3 input so you may listen to your own supplied music if you wish. The Andrews Sisters and Bing Crosby sounded wonderful as I gave the set its final bench test! 13-3/4"H x 12-1/4"W x 8"D.
