Coradio Coin-Op (1948)
(metal tube table radio)

Coradio Coin-Op (1948)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is a late 1940's coin operated radio. Typically found in hotels and motels and were ruggedized to keep guests from tampering with them. This particular one does come with a pair of keys; a quarter, when inserted, will allow you to listen to your favorite AM broadcast stations for an hour. There is a money box inside of the heavy cabinet to collect the quarters (I left one in the mechanism so the first playing is on me!). Not trying to date myself, but I don't remember these in motels/hotels, but I do remember the beds with "Magic Fingers," in motels that would vibrate the bed for around 15 minutes for a quarter! Those were fun, too. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs and it is internally fused for your safety), and it plays very nicely on the AM Broadcast band. Someone nicely painted the cabinet in the past and it is very presentable. Would be a great addition to your "Man Cave." These are somewhat scarce to come by and is the first one I've ever seen. 14-1/2"W x 8-1/2"H x 7-3/4"W.
