Majestic IS-49 "Melody Cruiser" (1940)
(wood tube novelty radio)

Majestic IS-49 "Melody Cruiser" (1940)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

During the late 1930s through the early 1940s, Majestic became quite involved in what we refer to today as novelty radios in order to supplement their business. What they did was to in actuality create a whole new market for themselves by introducing the Charlie McCarthy, Lone Ranger, Rudolph and the Melody Cruiser. Of all those, the Melody Cruiser is by far at the top in both looks and design. I've had this particular Majestic in my own collection for decades and it has the nicest original finish I personally have ever seen, even the original grille cloth is in place. Look at the sails and the wire rigging; that is what Majestic uses for an antenna? Very clever indeed! This is one gorgeous radio. It plays quite well and the electronics have been restored so you can cherish it and enjoy it for a long, long time to come.
