Sony ICF-9740W
(wood transistor table radio w/FM)

Sony ICF-9740W

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Sony sold this classic style AM/FM table radio in 1981 for $59.95 as higher-end and better-sounding entry in the market. This one has just been electrically restored, with all electrolytic capacitors replaced, a new power transformer, a new volume control, careful disassembly and cleaning of all other switches and controls, and a thorough alignment. It works like new, with good sensitivity and excellent sound quality. This radio produces much more bass than you'd expect from such a small package, and has loudness compensation for a nice hi-fi sound. Cosmetically it's decent, but look closely at the pictures to note the blemish in the vinyl wood-grain covering on the left side and the wear of the front panel around the controls. This radio was thoroughly enjoyed for decades (I know the original owner) and has some patina to show for it. Use it as originally designed, or add my Better Bluetooth option to play your own program material. Shipping $25 to 48 states. 13"W x 9"H x 5-1/4"D.
