Emerson 1232 TV/radio (1956)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Would you like to check out the fun of having a working antique TV without paying too much? This cute maroon/white portable Emerson is the set for you. It has some cosmetic shortcomings (some wear and corrosion, and missing rabbit ears, as is typical for these sets) but it works very well and is fun to watch. The chassis has been fully restored with a strong set of tubes, all electrolytic and paper caps replaced, new resistors where needed, replacement of selenium rectifiers with silicon diodes, a full video and audio IF alignment, and a new power cord. The picture on these early portables is not particularly bright--the designers used a non-aluminized picture tube and a low anode voltage to keep costs down. Nonetheless, it's quite watchable if the room is not too brightly lit. As a bonus, this set includes an AM radio which also works well. 12"W x 8"H x 12"D.
