Unless you're a talk radio junkie, having FM on an antique radio makes everyday listening much more enjoyable. This Emerson Bakelite AM-FM set performs well on both bands. A meticulous FM alignment with sweep generator is key to getting the best FM reception from these early FM sets. In addition to alignment, the eight-tube chassis has had all the usual service and restoration work -- all new capacitors, new resistors where needed, a strong set of tubes, and a new polarized power cord with power switch modifications for improved safety. The cabinet is in nice condition, with no chips or cracks and a good Bakelite shine (not clear coated); a slight "halo" effect is visible in the Bakelite around the pilot light jewel, and there is one small spot on top. A new crystal clear dial cover has been installed. This radio has a tone control and a 5-inch speaker for good sound quality. 11-1/4"W x 7-3/4"H x 7"D.
