RCA 62 (Canada,1947) AM-SW
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

RCA 62 (Canada,1947) AM-SW

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here's a rather uniquely designed table radio from RCA Canada. The dial consists of three clear louvers mounted in front of the speaker grille. Dial lights illuminate these louvers from both ends, giving a striking impression of a "floating dial" in a darkened room. The wooden cabinet has walnut veneer on the top and sides, and the front is sculpted with a grid pattern to the left and right of the speaker. There is a small defect in the grille cloth; I felt that the cloth could not be easily replaced with something as attractive as the original. The six-tube chassis has an extra RF amplifier stage for superb sensitivity, and a 6K6 output stage coupled to a 6-inch speaker for really good sound. All electrolytic and paper caps have been replaced, as well as selected resistors. Tubes are strong, and the set has been fully aligned for perfect performance. A new cord and fuse have been installed for improved safety. The huge power transformer was designed to handle 25 Hz power that some parts of Canada had back then (it works just fine on our 60 Hz power too). It has an original phono input jack, and my "Better Bluetooth" can be installed. 17-1/2"W x 10-3/4"H x 8-3/4"D.
