A ONE-DAY WONDER!

This was Philco's top-of-the line radio in the mid 1930s, and a magnificent performer it is! Technical progress was so rapid during the 30s that customers who just a few years prior were listening to radios with poor sensitivity, primitive speakers, and weak volume would have been astonished by a radio like this, with its five bands, fabulous sensitivity, two-speed tuning, AVC, high fidelity 10 watt push-pull audio amp, and great-sounding 10-inch speaker. AVC was brand new, and to give listeners the silence between stations they were used to with older designs, Philco added a "quiet AVC" switch on the right side, which enables a squelch circuit. The eleven-tube chassis has been restored to like-new performance, with strong tubes, all new capacitors, a new vintage-style cord, a perfect alignment, and rebuilt tuning drive wheels. Sensitivity is top-notch on all bands, and the shadow meter works well. The audio power is enough to rattle the rafters. I've left the gently worn original finish on this radio, as a witness to many years of everyday use. The top and front still look great; the sides show some normal wear. My "Better Bluetooth" is available. 22-1/4"H x 17"W x 12"D.
