RCA 3-RF-91 AM/FM (1953)
(Bakelite tube table radio w/FM)

RCA 3-RF-91 AM/FM (1953)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This big Bakelite AM-FM by RCA is a very well designed radio. The giant bright brass escutcheon makes a bold styling statement, and the reverse-molded numbers on the clear dial are nicely illuminated by the twin dial lights. Behind that large dial is an 8-inch speaker, for great sound and plenty of bass. Unlike Zenith AM-FM sets from this time period, RCA used a power transformer and a 6V6 output stage, for considerably more audio power than its Zenith competition. The nine-tube chassis has been restored to like-new performance, with superb sensitivity on both AM and FM. The key to getting great FM performance in these 1950s sets is a top-notch alignment, which I spend considerable effort providing. Electrical restoration included all the usual things -- new capacitors, new resistors where needed, a good set of tubes, all contacts cleaned, and a new power cord. The dial pointer was repaired with a new brass hoop to replace the original broken one. Overall this is a very clean set with great sound. This set has a tone control and a factory phono input. My "Better Bluetooth" option is available. 16-1/2"W x 10"H x 9"D.
