Zenith R733 AM/FM Clock Radio (1952)
(plastic tube clock radio w/FM)

Zenith R733 AM/FM Clock Radio (1952)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

"Merry Christmas to us - 1953" is what was written as a small note on the bottom of this Zenith -- and a very nice present it would have been. The original grey painted finish is far too nice to repaint; its value will also hold up better in the long run with its original finish. There are a few nicks here and there after 65+ years, but overall it looks very nice and has a good shine. The seven-tube chassis has had a full restoration, with good tubes, all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced, new resistors where needed, and a full RF/IF alignment with sweep generator for perfect reception and like-new performance on both FM and AM. You'll be surprised how well a 1950s FM radio works when properly aligned. A new polarized power cord has been installed along with a changeover to hot-side switch wiring for improved safety. The clock runs fine with no noise. There is a pilot light at the top of the FM dial. A very nice mid-century modern specimen. 15-1/2"W x 7-1/4"H x 7-1/2"D.
