Packard Bell 5R1 (1954)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Packard Bell 5R1 (1954)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

As the price of radios fell in the late 1940s and 50s, many families bought inexpensive table radios like this one for the kitchen, bedroom, or workshop. This Packard Bell has a black Bakelite cabinet with a good-as-new original Bakelite shine (no clearcoating) and houses an "All American Five" chassis that has been fully restored to perform like new. Restoration included a strong set of tubes, all new capacitors, several new resistors, and a complete RF/IF alignment. A new polarized power cord was installed, and the power switch wiring was changed to take advantage of the polarized cord for improved safety. Like every radio that leaves my shop, it works as well as the day it was made, with great sensitivity and good sound quality. This is a fairly small and light radio, so shipping will be reasonable. 9-1/4"W x 6"H x 5-1/4"D.
