Atwater Kent 567 Cathedral (1932)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Atwater Kent 567 Cathedral (1932)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Atwater Kent made the best quality radios in the early 1930s. The quality is everywhere -- in the sturdy nickel plated chassis, the latest and best circuitry for the time, the great-sounding paper cone speaker with cloth surround, the silky smooth tuning dial, and the outstanding cabinet design with its fine veneers and carvings. This one retains its original grille cloth, knobs, escutcheon, and dial. The cabinet has been lovingly refinished to bring out the beauty of the front panel walnut book veneer, the diagonal grain walnut arch, and the full walnut veneer on the sides and top (most others used cheap wood here). The chassis has had a full restoration with all new capacitors, new resistors where needed, a strong set of tubes, new wiring, a rebuilt rubber tuning drive wheel, and a perfect RF/IF alignment. The circuit is a seven-tube superhet, with superb sensitivity and sound quality. AVC was still one year in the future, so this radio has an earlier feel to its operation. The original speaker is in perfect condition. A new vintage style power cord has been installed (with the original plug) and a fuse added for safety. Tone control and lighted dial. 19"H x 16"W x 10"D.
