General Electric F-70 AM-SW (1937)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

General Electric F-70 AM-SW (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This General Electric table radio looks and sounds great. Bands of Zebrawood veneer provide an attractive decorative accent, and solid walnut louvers add depth to the speaker grille. Knobs, escutcheon, and grille cloth are original; the cabinet has been refinished nicely and a new crystal clear dial window has been installed. There is a touch of corrosion visible here and there on the metal dial. The dial on this radio is a bit of a mechanical wonder, with four different pointers for tuning, band selection, volume, and tone. The tuning mechanism has a fast/slow vernier action. The seven-tube chassis has an extra IF stage for excellent sensitivity, which is noticeable on both AM and short wave. The 8-inch speaker really sounds good, with quite respectable bass and good treble. The chassis has had a full electrical restoration, with all new capacitors, new resistors where needed, and a full IF/RF alignment. Almost all of the tubes are the original GE tubes. A new vintage-style power cord and plug have been installed, and a fuse has been added for better safety. Lighted dial. My "Better Bluetooth" option is available. 20-3/4"W x 10-1/2"H x 9"D.
