Zenith 5-S-29 Tombstone (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW/Aux or BT)

Zenith 5-S-29 Tombstone (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Before the famous big black dial Zeniths came this little black dial. Zenith obviously liked what they saw, and built upon the black dial theme for years to come. Like some of its larger offspring, this dial is highlighted in different colors for each band when illuminated. And check out that curly maple veneer at the bottom of the cabinet - very attractive! The chassis is a five-tube superhet, which has been fully restored with good tubes, all new capacitors, new resistors where needed, a full RF/IF alignment, a new vintage-style cloth power cord with a real vintage round plug, and a fuse for improved safety. Sensitivity is good on all bands, and sound quality is excellent. I've also done a mechanical tuneup, with a new tuning belt that feels just right, and new rubber mounts for the tuner and entire chassis, so the dial is properly aligned with the opening in the cabinet. Knobs are original walnut "Z" knobs. Grille cloth has been replaced. Tiny cracks in the dial have been repaired and are not easily visible. Aux input and Bluetooth available. 17-3/4"H x 13"W x 8-1/2"D.
