Zenith 5-R-312 "Beehive" (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This Zenith Bakelite table radio from 1938 is affectionately known as the "Beehive" with its cylindrical ribbed speaker grille. This radio's cabinet is in very nice condition, with one minor reddish blemish on the left side (visible in the photos). It works like new, with good sensitivity and sound quality when used with a wire antenna of at least ten feet. Restoration included replacement of all electrolytic and paper capacitors, replacement of resistors where necessary, a strong set of tubes, cleaning of pushbutton contacts, a full RF and IF alignment, addition of a fuse and fuse holder (for improved safety), a new polarized power cord, reconing of the speaker, a new curved speaker baffle, new mounting grommets for the tuning capacitor, new rubber feet, a new window for the dial, a new dial light bulb, and a reproduction back. A very distinctive radio to add to your collection. 12-1/2"W x 7-1/2"H x 7-1/4"D.
