Philco 46-1201 "Bing Crosby" Radio-Phono
()

Philco 46-1201 "Bing Crosby" Radio-Phono

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is the Philco "record in slot" radio-phonograph known as the "Bing Crosby" because he featured in Philco's ads for this innovative product. To play a 10-inch or 12-inch 78rpm record, simply insert the record into the slot and close the door. The record starts and shuts off automatically -- it works like a charm. The attractive reverse painted glass dial is lighted. Both the radio and phonograph have been fully restored and work like new. All capacitors and out-of-tolerance resistors have been replaced. The radio has had a full RF/IF alignment, the tubes are strong, and a new polarized power cord has been installed. The unreliable mercury switch shut-off in the record player has been replaced with a microswitch, and the entire mechanism has been cleaned and lubricated. A replacement high-output cartridge has been installed, so sound quality and volume are good. The cabinet isn't perfect: blemishes in the photofinish have been colored to match the pattern, and a clear coat has been applied to keep it stable going forward. The sides have been repainted. Overall, it looks quite respectable. 16"W x 11-1/2"H x 14-3/4"D.
