Silvertone 8260 (1947)
(plastic tube portable radio)

Silvertone 8260 (1947)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This compact lunchbox-size Silvertone is an unusual portable tube radio with ivory plastic covers on the front and back and a leatherette-covered metal body. Although the original "B" battery type is no longer available, this radio also operates on AC power, and has been fully restored to good-as-new operation. Restoration included replacement of all capacitors, replacement of a faulty tube socket, repair of the built-in loop antenna (inside the front cover), and a full RF and IF alignment. Sensitivity is excellent and audio quality is surprisingly good for such a compact radio. Although cracked or broken covers are common on this model, this one is in very good condition overall, with only a 1/2" hairline crack in the edge of the rear cover near the latch (just visible in one of the photos) and a 1/4" hairline crack on the upper right corner of the front cover (nearly invisible). Other minor cosmetic imperfections include a little chipping in the metallic paint around the tuning dial, and a few visual blemishes on both covers. If you're looking for something unique and different, this might be right up your alley! Due to its small size and weight, shipping cost for this radio will be minimal. 8-1/2"H x 6"W x 3-3/4"D.
