THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

1939 produced some of the most beautiful radio case designs, but none better than this Zenith tabletop set, which is an icon of the Art Deco period. It was designed by Robert Budlong, one of Zenith's most prolific radio engineers of the 1930's. This beautiful, completely original Bakelite set, with its streamline shape was described as Franciscan Brown color and originally sold for $14.95. The case is in excellent condition, with no cosmetic issues like chips, cracks or hairline cracks, and retains a great deal of its original showroom patina. The chassis was checked completely by a pro, and the radio is playing clearly, picking up all my local AM stations. This radio has a beautiful gold Deco dial, and the dial lamp works well, really lighting it up. It also has a perfect new replacement back on the set, styled as the original. This model was a movie star! It appeared with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland in "Strike Up the Band" (1940), and also Rooney and Freddie Bartholomew again in "A Yank at Eton" (1942).
