Emerson CF-255 "Emersonette" (1939)
(plastic tube table radio)

Emerson CF-255 "Emersonette" (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This midget "Emersonette" was the pre-War version of the Emerson model 540 produced after WWII. It was advertised as "The World's Best Selling Small Radio." All this for $6.95! The very fragile cases were made in brown, ivory, red and green. Hardly any have survived without damage. The radio operates on a two-tube TRF chassis, and originally utilized a resistance line cord to step down the voltage to the chassis. The original resistance line cord has been replaced by my repair professional with a new modern cord. It's been completely checked by him and everything needing replacing was done. It is playing clearly picking up all my local AM stations utilizing its short antenna wire. I will include an extra length of antenna wire to enhance reception. The case is undamaged, with no cracks, chips or breaks, and it still has much of its original showroom shine. It also has a perfect matching replacement back. This tiny 6-1/2"W x 5"H x 3-1/2"D midget radio is a great part of Emerson history. I will include a copy of the original ad for the radio from Radio Retailing.
