THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
The Guild Radio and Television Company of Inglewood CA was known for several novelty type radios made during the 1950's. Among them were the "Country Bell" in the shape of an old wall telephone, the "Town Crier" in the shape of an old lantern, and the "Teakettle" in the shape of a kettle. This "Spice Chest" set from the same time period is known for its excellent solid wood finish, as no veneers were used. The two original spice drawers are included in excellent shape, and the three original wooden knobs are also in place. The radio is an All American five tube set, and has been gone over completely, tubes, capacitors, and resistors replaced as needed, and is playing clearly picking up all my local AM stations. The dial lamp works fine, and it has its original back and metal tag, both in nice condition. These sets come up fairly often, but the finish on this particular radio is in super nice condition, just a minor nick or two. About 12"W x 14"H x 7"D. |
