THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This is an Art Deco FADA model 254R from 1937 that has been completely restored into its original Chinese Red color. This model in red Plaskon is next to impossible to find, therefore a black Bakelite model 254 with a perfect unblemished case was transformed into the original Chinese Red color. There were absolutely no cosmetic issues, no cracks or repairs. The chassis was also completely restored, and the radio is playing clearly picking up all my local AM stations with its antenna wire extended out. The lit dial a is a real killer. The cutout FADA letters in the back cover really complete the radio's beautiful design. The cord is a new safe replacement. The silver grille cloth is original. In the mid 1930's, management encouraged radio cabinets with bright colors. The advertisement for these 1937 FADA sets described them as "FADA Color Radios, The Radio Beautiful, Featured in 7 Distinctive Color Combinations With All the Beauty of an Artist's Masterpiece!" Wow! Who wouldn't want one? About 11"W x 7-1/2"H x 6"D. |
