THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
I very seldom use the word "rare" in any radio description, but this midget sized 1939 Motorola with its Art Deco automotive grille surely rates that word. Although its design is unique enough, this set is the model 51-B, which has three knobs, not the common two knob set. The third middle knob is for tone control of the volume. The original models 51-A and 51-C came in brown Bakelite and ivory painted Bakelite. This model 51-B has been professionally restored in a beautiful automotive red paint. The chassis has been completely restored also, and everything out of tolerance was replaced. The radio is playing clearly and picking up all my local AM stations. It also has a FYLP new perfect reproduction back on the case. The overall size of the radio is about 9"W x 6"H x 5"D. |
