THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
1946 Bendix Aviation radio in a swirled burgundy and tan Polystyrene case. This model 114 and the model 115 (in brown and ivory) were often mistaken for being Catalin cases. This model shares the same design as the Bendix 526C Catalin version, an unusual design made of four pieces of Polystyrene fitted together. The radio was designed by James Franklin Glover (US Patent #146907), and is in beautiful original condition, really showing off the marbleized color. Many of these models' cases have cracks down the middle on top, which must have been some type of manufacturing flaw. The fragile Polystyrene sections and trim on this case are in perfect original condition with no cracks, chips, burns or repairs. The case has its original back, and there is a label on the bottom. The plastic dial is also in perfect condition. The radio has been completely checked, and is playing clearly picking up all my local AM stations. About 11"W x 7"H x 6-1/2"D. |
