THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This is a FADA model 56L-VE "Fadalette" with built in "FA-DA-Scope" antenna in beautiful ivory Plaskon with brown swirled grille, a near impossible radio to find. I have never seen one for sale on the Attic. FADA produced both a "Bakelite Color Series" and a "Catalin Group" in the 1939-40 L-56 models. The contrasting concentric Plaskon grille series was available in a variety of colors, some with matching knobs: Blue, Green, Maroon, Black, and Brown. The knobs and handle are original. The set is midget sized at about 8-1/2"W x 6-1/2"H (to top of handle) x 5-1/2"D. The chassis is completely original and the radio is still working fine picking up all my local AM stations clearly after 80 years. The case is in perfect condition with no cracks or hairlines. The dial shares the identical dial with the Catalin models, and is beautiful when lit up. If you want to read an excellent article about this radio, search the web for FADA L-56 VE and read the article by Classic Radio Gallery. |
